Eat in Queens Restaurant Month returning for second year in March

Feb. 15, 2024 By Iryna Shkurhan Queens Together, a nonprofit organization that works to reduce food insecurity while also promoting restaurants, is gearing up for its second Eat in Queens Restaurant Month in March.  Last year, the organization partnered with 203 different restaurants across the borough and was able to raise $36,000 that paid for dozens of food distribution events in partnership with community organizations. The funds were mostly collected from restaurant goers who donated $25 or more, and in turn were able to receive discounts and promotions at any of the participating restaurants.  This year Queens Together is changing up…

In a joint letter sent to DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez on Feb. 9, Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi, state Sen. Joseph P. New bill targets RV and mobile home removal from residential streets in NYC

Feb. 14, 2024 By Rachel Butler Recreational vehicles (RV’s) and mobile homes may soon be forcibly removed from residential streets at certain times if a new senate bill introduced by council members Robert Holden and Kamillah Hanks becomes law. Holden, who represents Ridgewood and surrounding areas and Hanks who represents Staten Island have introduced a new bill to combat the recent surge of RV’s and mobile homes permanently parked on streets in residential areas.
