Queens Council Member keeps Veterans warm this winter with coat drive

Dec. 27, 2023 By Anthony Medina Council Member Robert Holden delivered 75 coats to former service members who are currently living at a homeless facility in Long Island City to help them keep warm this winter. The coats were delivered by Holden to the Borden Avenue Veterans Residence on Dec. 21. The coats were donated by veteran service organizations such as the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapters 32 and 126, as well as the public. “It’s a small gesture to those who bravely served our country, ensuring they stay warm this winter,” Holden said. Student volunteers spruce up Crocheron Park during holiday break

Dec. 26, 2023 By Iryna Shkurhan Dozens of students in Queens chose to spend their first official day of the holiday break tending to Bayside’s Crocheron Park through a recently formed volunteer group.  The event, held Tuesday, Dec. 26, saw more than 30 volunteers scatter mulch around trees to prepare them for the winter months. NYC Parks employees were grateful for the additional help, noting that they lack the manpower to address all of the park’s needs. 85-year-old Maspeth man is missing, cops seek help finding him

Dec. 26, 2023 By Christian Murray Police are looking to find an 85-year-old man who was last seen at his Maspeth home last week. Wesley Daniels, described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 200 pounds, was last seen at his home located in the vicinity of 59th Place and 60th Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 23. Wesley was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and blue sneakers. Police have released a photo of the octogenarian.
