Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are looking for a burglar who broke into two Murray Hill restaurants in just two minutes during the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 8.
The burglar forcibly entered Mika’s Miga BBQ, located at 149-09 41st Ave., just before 5 a.m. and attempted to remove property, but ran off empty handed and moved on to the Panda King Chinese restaurant next door at 149-11 41st Ave., according to authorities. After breaking in at 5 a.m., the burglar removed $350 in cash before running off, police said.
Investigators believe the burglar is the same man who broke into a home one hour earlier at 104-09 41st Ave. Once inside, the crook removed $1,000 in cash and a computer tablet before running off, police said.
There were no injuries reported during the three incidents, according to authorities.
The NYPD released a surveillance image of the burglar on Oct. 18 and described him as having a “medium” complexion and a slim build. He is approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and was was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and light-colored pants, police said.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
The 109th Precinct has reported 254 robberies so far in 2023, 25 more than the 229 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 10.9%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
