Driver Dead After Crashing His SUV on Laurelton Parkway in Queens

A man is dead after losing control of his SUV while driving eastbound on the Laurelton Parkway on Saturday.

Shalik Robinson, 43, of Roslyn in Long Island, was driving a 2015 Cadillac Escalade at around 6:20 p.m. when he struck a right guardrail near Merrick Boulevard, causing his vehicle to then cross three lanes and hit the left guardrail.

Police responded to the scene and Robinson was transported to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Southeast Queens residents will be chanting “Lets Go Mets” as construction ramps up on the $19 billion JFK transformation project and it will have nothing to do with baseball. The Port Authority on June 1 announced that a Long Island company, the Melville-based Modern Efficient Transport and Supply LLC (METS), has been selected to build and operate an on-airport construction support facility to reduce the impact on neighboring communities over the next several years.
