The NYPD released a chilling video today that shows a gunman opening fire on a St. Albans street Tuesday morning that left a Springfield Gardens man dead and another wounded.
Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who is seen on the surveillance video approaching the victims near the intersection of Hollis Avenue and 199th Street at around 5 a.m. on Dec. 12.
The perpetrator allegedly pulled out a handgun and opened fire multiple times striking a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old man in their torsos. Police from the 113th Precinct in Jamaica responded to multiple 911 calls of the shooting that took place on the sidewalk outside the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses church on Hollis Avenue.
The gunman was last seen running from the crime scene southbound on 199th Street away from Hollis Avenue. EMS rushed the 32-year-old victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. He was later identified as Jaime Robinson of Bedell Street in Springfield Gardens, according to the NYPD. The second victim was transported by EMS to North Shore University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect and described him as having a dark complexion, with a slim build and being approximately 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers.

Through Dec. 10, the 113th Precinct has reported six murders so far in 2023, two fewer than the eight reported at the same point last year, according to the most recent CompStat report. Shooting incidents are also down in the 113th Precinct with 15 shootings so far this year, 10 fewer than the 25 reported at the same point in 2022, according to CompStat.
