A fire tore through at least two small businesses in Elmhurst Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to a blaze that broke out at around 8:05 a.m. inside a second-floor dentist office located at 40-14 82nd St., according to the FDNY.

The fire quickly spread into the cockloft of the building and then engulfed the second floor of an adjacent café called M to N Cafeteria, located at 40-12 82nd St., the FDNY said.

The FDNY sent out about 25 units and more than 100 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

Video footage shows heavy smoke billowing out the second floor of the café. As the blaze continues, smoke can be seen gushing out of the ground floor of both affected buildings.

Two café workers wearing plastic aprons could be seen removing flowers from a stall in front of the eatery and then looking on with a crowd of people as firefighters battled the inferno.

The FDNY said it got the fire under control at around 9:45 a.m.

Images of the aftermath of the blaze show the second-floor windows of both buildings completely smashed. There also appears to be damage to another commercial space located beneath the dentist.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment, the FDNY said. There were no reports of civilians injured.

The Fire Marshal will ultimately determine the cause of the fire and an investigation is ongoing, the FDNY said.

The blaze broke out in a home at 142-33 60th Ave. just before 5:30 a.m. The first firefighters on the scene found heavy fire emanating from the first floor that may have been sparked and intensified by the presence of lithium-ion batteries and a half-dozen e-bikes in the basement of the home.
