Man Beats and Robs Victim in Building Lobby Near Roosevelt Avenue

Police are looking for a man who beat and robbed an Elmhurst resident in the lobby of the victim’s building last week.

The suspect followed the victim — a 57-year-old man– into the lobby of his apartment building near 88th Street and Roosevelt Avenue at 12:13 a.m. on Thursday, police said.

Once inside, the suspect repeatedly punched the victim in the head and took his wallet–which contained $40–before running off, police said.

The victim suffered pain and swelling to his head and was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, police said.

College Point man charged with arson, attempted murder for allegedly starting 2-alarm house fire: NYPD

One of the five civilians rescued by the FDNY from a 2-alarm house fire in College Point on Friday morning was arrested later in the day for allegedly starting the blaze in his first-floor apartment.

Jonathan Mejia, 33, was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday, Sept. 16 on a complaint charging him with arson in the first degree, four counts of attempted murder in the second degree and other related charges.
