Man Killed in Dumpster Accident in Bayside: NYPD

A man was killed while he was helping to unload a dumpster in the Bayside neigborhood Monday morning, according to police.

Police were called to a house in the vicinity of 191st Street and Northern Boulevard at around 10:30 a.m. and discovered the victim unconscious and unresponsive in the driveway.

Police said, the victim, 32, was killed while he was standing in the driveway while a dumpster was being unloaded. He was struck in the head when a loading door opened.

The identity of the victim has yet to be released, pending family notification.

New York City has agreed to remediate radioactive materials on the city-owned property located near the former Wolff-Alport Chemical Company facility on Irving Avenue in Ridgewood, and to pay the federal government $1.6 million for costs incurred by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Attorney Breon Peace announced Monday. The Wolff-Alport Company operated at the facility at the location from the 1920s until 1954.
