Oct. 15, 2020 By Michael Dorgan

Police are searching for a man who allegedly burglarized two apartment buildings in Kew Gardens earlier this week and made off with power tools.

Cops said the suspect first struck shortly after midnight Sunday when he broke into a residential building in the vicinity of Lefferts Boulevard and Metropolitan Avenue.

The perpetrator was captured on surveillance video entering the basement of the building and stealing power tools worth around $100 from a secured storage locker, police said.

He then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect allegedly hit another residential building on Tuesday at around 2:30 a.m. and was again captured on tape.

Cops said the assailant went into the basement of a building in the vicinity of Talbot Street and 84th Avenue and took property from a storage locker before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Police said the stolen property did not have any stated value.

Police describe the man as being between 40 and 50 years of age.

The NYPD released video footage of the suspect taken during the incident. The footage shows the man wearing glasses and a dark-colored hoodie.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
