May. 23, 2023 By Julia Moro

St. John’s ICARE Foundation received a $100,000 donation from the medical staff at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital (SJEH) on the Rockaway Peninsula.

The donation will fund simulators and educational equipment for the soon-to-be-opened Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM)/Episcopal Health Services (EHS) Clinical Learning Center.

This donation is the largest for this project and shows the medical staff’s gratitude to the EHS administration, nurses, students and others who are committed to supporting the Graduate Medical Education Programs and Collaborative Care at EHS.

“Our attending medical staff looks forward to participating in simulation exercises with SJEH’s multidisciplinary team and advancing the team’s clinical skills and knowledge in a state-of-the-art simulation center,” said Donald Morrish, MD, MMM, Chief Medical Officer, SVP Medical Affairs.

The newly constructed building on Plainview Avenue across from the hospital will include four examination laboratories, a large multi-use simulation lab, a multi-use auditorium, two general simulation labs and a simulation operating room. It will also feature a breast clinic and clinical services in audiology; cardiac and cardiothoracic care; dermatology; ear, nose, and throat; endocrinology; hematology; neurology; OB/GYN; oncology; orthopedic; podiatry; pulmonary and vascular treatment.

Ridgewood mother and daughter arrested for attacking woman over parking spot: NYPD

A Ridgewood mother and daughter were arrested Monday after they ambushed a young Black woman who tried to park her car in a spot in front of their apartment building that they frequently cordon off with garbage cans and traffic cones.

A family friend was standing at the northeast corner of Onderdonk Avenue and Putnam Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. when the 21-year-old Jada McPherson tried to park her car in the spot. The man placed a garbage can in her way. She drove off and circled the block multiple times. She tried to pull into the same spot one more time, but the man tried to stop her again. McPherson got out of her car to confront him, and an argument ensued.
