Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Crashing Into Vehicle Making an Illegal U-Turn in Jackson Heights

A motorcyclist and his passenger crashed into a vehicle Sunday that was making an illegal U-turn in the vicinity of 37th Avenue and Junction Boulevard (GMaps)

A motorcyclist is in critical condition and his passenger is in stable condition after crashing into a vehicle that was making an illegal U-turn in Jackson Heights Sunday evening.

The motorcycle, driven by a 30-year-old man, collided with a vehicle that was making an illegal U-Turn in the vicinity of 37th Avenue and Junction Boulevard at around 9:05 p.m. The collision threw the operator of the bike and his 21-year-old female passenger on the roadway.

Both were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where the driver of the 2014 Ducati motorcycle is listed in critical condition and the female passenger is listed in stable condition.

Police said that the driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man who was in a 2019 Toyota CHR, remained at the scene and didn’t seek medical attention. No arrests have been made.

Police had no further details on the crash at press time. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is conducting the investigation.
