A new sports bar/restaurant has opened in Forest Hills just in time for the Super Bowl.

The new bar, called Roam, opened Saturday just off Austin Street at 107-12 70th Rd. It serves beer, wine and cocktails and offers a wide range of American-styled food.

The operators of the bar have moved into an 1,800 square foot space that was previously occupied by a pizzeria called Numero 28.

The bar is co-owned by Manish Chadha, who operates a number of pizzerias and burger joints throughout Queens.

Chadha, 46, grew up in Rego Park and co-owns three Singas Famous Pizza franchises in Queens – with locations in Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Corona. He also co-owns a Singas franchise in Manhattan, as well as a Mini Burger restaurant in Forest Hills and in Kew Gardens.

The operators of the new bar/restaurant said they are looking to bring the energy of a city sports bar to Forest Hills.

Chadha and his business partners have renovated the space into a sleek-looking sports bar with a wooden floor and ceiling, exposed brick walls and 10 TVs that will show a wide variety of games.

The wall opposite the bar has been spray-painted with the words “When in Roam.” The bar’s name is a play on the old saying: “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

The establishment seats around 50 people inside, with the outdoor area at the front of the building having room for about 20 patrons. The outdoor area has heaters and three TVs.

A new navy-colored sign with the company’s logo has gone up on the front of the building. The owners say that the sign is a temporary fixture as they are still working on refurbishing the exterior of the building.

The bar offers a range of burgers, chicken sandwiches, flatbread options, finger food and salads. Pretzels, calamari, chicken tenders, kung pao chicken and mozzarella sticks are also on the menu.

Roam serves a number of beers including Modelo, Coors Lights, Brooklyn East IPA, Sam Adams, Peroni and Guinness stout.

Cocktails include Winter Old Fashioned, Spicy Margarita, Espresso Martini, Hot Toddy, Moscow Mule and Irish Coffee.

The owners will run promotions on Feb. 13, the day of the Super Bowl, to celebrate their opening. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. draft beers will be priced at $5 each, buckets of beer at $20, and food items will also be reduced—including a burger and fries combo deal for $8.

There will also be a live DJ from 2 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

The bar’s regular opening hours are 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and from noon to 1 a.m. on Thursdays through Sundays.

FDNY fights 2-alarm blaze in Rockaway Beach at BBQ joint with a rich history of a bygone era

The FDNY battled a two-alarm blaze at a restaurant in Rockaway Beach that stirred up some ghosts for residents of the neighborhood.

The fire broke out just after 7 p.m. at the Smoke and Barrel BBQ at 97-20 Rockway Beach Blvd., in the same location as the old Boggiano’s Bar and Grill. It stood for three-quarters of a century across from the entrance to Rockaway Beach’s Playland Amusement Park, which drew visitors from across the city to what was known as the Irish Riviera, an alternative to Coney Island on the Brooklyn side of Jamaica Bay.
