Police have released a shocking video of a woman being repeatedly hit in the head with a hammer by a mugger at Queens Plaza Thursday night, leaving her in critical condition.

The terrifying footage captures a 57-year-old woman walking down a flight of steps at an entrance to the Queens Plaza subway station at around 11:20 p.m. before she is kicked in the back by a man.

The woman, who is seen holding onto a rail on her way down the steps, is kicked a second time by the suspect who can then be seen pulling out a hammer and striking the victim in the back of the head.

Suspect (NYPD)

The perpetrator hits the helpless woman with the hammer around a dozen more times, striking her in the head and the back, the footage shows.

The victim then falls to the ground while the suspect grabs her bag and casually walks back up the steps before fleeing southbound on Queens Plaza South, police said.

The woman was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with a fractured skull and lacerations to her head, cops said.

Police said the victim’s bag contained $120 cash, two rings, two cell phones as well as debit cards and credit cards.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black-colored hooded coat, a black mask, blue jeans and black shoes. He also carried a cane.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/

Another coward! They pick on the elderly and women! This is extremely upsetting! From razors to knives and now hammers! I’m afraid to leave my apartment. This is no way to live. Please mayor Eric Adams let’s get these criminals away from society, they belong in jail or mental institutions.

Five people were recovered near the entrance to the Ambrose Channel, a major shipping lane leading into the Port of New York and New Jersey, between the Rockaways and Staten Island. Three men were pronounced dead, and two were injured, including one man who was listed in critical condition. They have not been identified pending proper family notification, police said.

USPS enhances security on Forest Hills relay boxes after pressure from Rep. Meng

Continuing her years-long effort to combat mail theft in Queens, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng announced Tuesday that she successfully persuaded the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to repair and enhance the security of four green relay boxes in Forest Hills after they were broken into and mail was stolen.

Green relay boxes store mail and are often located next to blue collection boxes throughout the borough. Over the past few years, thieves have targeted these boxes and stolen mail from them, including checks, prescriptions, bank and credit card statements, and other personal and sensitive information. This information is often used to steal money and identity data from Queens residents.
