After decades of helping New Yorkers celebrate life’s biggest moments, Party City is throwing its final party—announcing the closure of all its stores, including its last two locations in Queens.

On Friday, Dec. 20, CEO Barry Litwin informed corporate employees during a meeting that the company would begin “winding down” operations immediately, marking the end of employment for its staff, according to CNN.

For nearly 40 years, Party City established itself as the nation’s largest and most recognizable party supply chain. The company currently operates 24 stores across New York City and Long Island.

FDNY fights 2-alarm blaze in Rockaway Beach at BBQ joint with a rich history of a bygone era

The FDNY battled a two-alarm blaze at a restaurant in Rockaway Beach that stirred up some ghosts for residents of the neighborhood.

The fire broke out just after 7 p.m. at the Smoke and Barrel BBQ at 97-20 Rockway Beach Blvd., in the same location as the old Boggiano’s Bar and Grill. It stood for three-quarters of a century across from the entrance to Rockaway Beach’s Playland Amusement Park, which drew visitors from across the city to what was known as the Irish Riviera, an alternative to Coney Island on the Brooklyn side of Jamaica Bay.

Amazon workers at other facilities across the country say they are prepared to join them to protest unfair labor practices after the IBT set a Dec. 15 deadline for Amazon to begin negotiations on a new agreement. The union was ignored.

East Elmhurst man busted for a fatal collision in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on the 4th of July: NYPD

A Queens grand jury indicted an East Elmhurst man in connection to a July 4th fatal collision at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Yersson Diaz, 27, of Ericsson Street just south of LaGuardia Airport, appeared at Queens Criminal Court for a summons on Tuesday and was taken into custody, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. He was booked Tuesday afternoon at the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst, where he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Astoria and Brooklyn middle schoolers celebrate opening of new NYCHA community spaces

Twenty-two middle school students from Astoria NYCHA Houses and 14 more from Stanley Avenue Preservation (Linden and Penn-Wortman Houses) in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood. along with family and community members, marked the opening of new community rooms at the HANAC Astoria Cornerstone program, located at 30-97 31st St., and Stanley Avenue Preservation CAMBA Cornerstone, located at 726 Stanley Ave., with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Monday, Dec. 16 and Tuesday, Dec. 10, respectively.
