Two Filipino-owned food businesses will partner with a Woodside cafe on July 4 for a one-day sale of mochi treats and barbecue.
The Boiis Co will be selling mochi-filled cookies and their popular mochi-filled cookie ice cream sandwiches (known as “Mooks”), while Bad For Business will serve Filipino-style barbecue skewers, including the Filipino street food staple isaw, or grilled chicken intestines.
The pop-up sales will take place in front of Bee Cafe, located at 60-11 39th Avenue, from 12 to 6 p.m.
The Sunnyside-based Boiis Co, which was founded in 2019, has no physical store but does most of their business online. Rivy Oponda, one of the three co-founders of the business, says the business had been planning to partner with Bee Cafe since last year, but had to put their plans on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Bad For Business, which is run by Chef Francis Maling, typically grills his meat on weekends in front of Jollibee in Woodside.
Prices for The Boiis Co treats are expected to be between $15-$16, while all purchases from both vendors will include a free drink from Bee Cafe.
The Boiis Co will be back at the Bee Cafe on July 17th for another pop-up event with Boy Isaw.
