Scooter Driver in Critical Condition After Colliding With Car in LIC Monday

A man is in critical condition after the scooter he was riding collided with a car near Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City Monday.

The victim, 37, was driving a Honda PCX motorized scooter through the 12th Street and 40th Avenue intersection at around 1:10 p.m. when he struck a 2007 Nissan Maxima, according to police.

The Honda driver was traveling east on 40th Avenue while the car driver was heading north on 12th Street when the collision took place, police said.

The victim suffered severe body trauma and was transported to New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center, cops said. The Nissan driver remained at the scene.

Police are still investigating the incident and it is unclear which driver had the right of way. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad.

No arrests have been made.
