A teenager was indicted by a Queens County grand jury today on murder and a weapons charge for the 2019 killing of a 14-year-old boy on the basketball courts at Baisley Park Houses in South Jamaica.

Sean Brown, a reputed gang member who is now 18-years old, allegedly gunned down Aamire Griffin at around 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2019 after mistaking him for a rival gang member.

Brown allegedly fired three shots from a .380 caliber firearm from about 100 yards away, with one bullet penetrating the 14-year-old’s upper chest, piercing both lungs. Griffin was rushed to a nearby hospital and died.

Video footage of the incident shows Brown running from the area after the shots were fired, entering a nearby deli and walking to the home of another reputed Money World gang member. Surveillance video also picks up Brown allegedly telling others, “I seen that n–, I hit him. That n—drop.”

He was nabbed by authorities in Los Angeles in August and extradited back to New York after being charging with murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

Brown, of Jamaica, Queens, faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted. He was arraigned in Queens County Supreme Court today and held without bail and ordered to return to court Sept. 14.

“Death by gun violence is always heartbreaking,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz in a statement.

“The death of Aamir Giffin hit our community particularly hard. A promising young student and athlete whose life was tragically cut short.”
