Two suspects sought in attempted auto heist in Briarwood: NYPD

Apr. 12, 2023 By Bill Parry

Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows are looking for a couple of would-be car thieves who turned out to be April fools.

On the night of Saturday, April 1, two men used a brick to break the front glass window of a Ford and Lincoln car dealership located at 139-40 Queens Blvd. in Briarwood just after 10 p.m., police said.

Once inside the dealership, the two suspects removed a key to a vehicle. The intruders then made several attempts to enter vehicles parked at the location and they were unsuccessful in gaining entry to any of the vehicles, according to authorities.

Thwarted in their attempted car heist, the two suspects fled the dealership on foot in an unknown direction. The damage caused to the front window of the location is estimated to cost $1,200, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the two suspects on April 11.

Police say one of the suspects has a dark complexion and heavy build. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with an unknown design, light blue jeans, white sneakers and a black face covering.

The second suspect is described as a man with a medium complexion and a medium build who last seen wearing a red hooded winter jacket, black pants and black shoes, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
