Video: Man Repeatedly Bashed With Gun on Queens Village Street

Police are looking for an armed suspect who approached a 24-year-old man from behind and repeatedly bashed him in the head with a firearm in Queens Village Friday.

The victim was walking home in the vicinity of 217-17 89th Ave. at around 9:30 a.m. on May 13 when he was approached from behind by a man displaying a firearm.

A physical struggle between the suspect and victim ensued. The suspect then struck the victim multiple times in the head with the firearm, while taking $4,200 from the victim’s pocket.

EMS responded and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition. The victim had lacerations to the head.

Police released a video and photo of the suspect taken at a nearby store.

One of the five civilians rescued by the FDNY from a 2-alarm house fire in College Point on Friday morning was arrested later in the day for allegedly starting the blaze in his first-floor apartment.

Jonathan Mejia, 33, was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday, Sept. 16 on a complaint charging him with arson in the first degree, four counts of attempted murder in the second degree and other related charges.
