The pharmacy chain Walgreens plans to close two of its stores in Queens next month.
Walgreens will close its 47-07 Broadway store in Astoria on Feb. 15, according to a company spokesperson.
The company will also shutter its Bayside location at 39-20 Bell Blvd. on the same day, the spokesperson said.
Walgreens did not give a reason for the closures although it alluded to changing consumer behavior.
“We have made the difficult decision to close these locations,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “There are a number of factors that we take into consideration including dynamics of the local market and changing buying habits of our customers.”
“We are focused on creating the right network of stores in the right locations to best meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
The company said that customers’ prescriptions will be transferred to nearby Walgreens stores.
