Woman Fatally Struck by 7 Train in Sunnyside Friday After Jumping Off Platform: NYPD

A woman was fatally struck by a No. 7 train early Friday after she jumped off a subway platform in Sunnyside onto the tracks, according to police.

The victim, believed to have been in her 20s, leaped off the platform at the 40th Street–Lowery Street station onto the tracks in an apparent suicide at around 4 a.m. She was hit by an oncoming Manhattan bound train, according to police.

First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene and removed her body from the tracks.

No criminality is suspected, police said. The woman’s identity has not been released.

The police were unable to provide any further details. The NYPD is continuing the investigation.
