Woman Fought Off Would-Be Rapist in Ridgewood Home: Police

A 37-year-old woman fought off a would-be rapist who followed her into her Ridgewood building Monday morning.

The woman was returning to her home near Gates Avenue and Cypress Avenue, when the man followed her inside her building at 8 a.m. Monday, police said.

Inside the building, he pushed her to the floor and tried to remove her clothing. When she fought back, the man ran outside and fled on foot, police said.

Police described the man as Hispanic and 20 to 30 years old. Police have released video and photos of the suspect.
