Woman Hit by Stray Bullet While Collecting Bottles on Northern Boulevard: NYPD

A woman was shot in the head by a stray bullet on Northern Boulevard while collecting bottles Thursday morning, according to police.

The victim, 69, heard a noise and felt pain in her head while she was outside a number of stores near 147th Street in Flushing at around 7 a.m.

The woman called 911 and when EMS arrived, they found she was bleeding. She was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, where doctors found a bullet fragment in her wound.

She was listed in stable condition, police said.

The woman told police she had no idea who shot her or where the bullet came from.

One of the men who were shot in the head during a botched robbery on the night of Thursday, Dec. 19, in a suspected gambling den in Flushing has died, and the investigation is deemed a homicide, the NYPD announced on Monday.

Yun Li, 37, of Franklin Avenue in Flushing, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Monday, Dec. 23 at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Li lived three blocks east of the crime scene.
