July 8, 2020 By Michael Dorgan

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to the attempted rape of a woman in Ridgewood earlier this week.

The boy faces a series of charges, including sex abuse, in relation to the incident that took place near Gates Avenue and Cypress Avenue Monday morning.

The suspect allegedly followed the 37-year-old victim into her apartment building at around 8 a.m. and pushed the woman to the floor, police said.

The boy threatened her by saying that he had a knife and then tried to remove her clothing, according to police.

He ran outside and fled the scene on foot after the woman fought back, police said.

Police initially described the suspect as a Hispanic man, aged between 20 to 30 years old.

The NYPD said they had arrested and charged a 12-year-old boy in the case Tuesday night.

Police charged the boy with sex abuse, assault, robbery, burglary, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Most 12 year olds are playing video games or some sport. His mother must be so proud he did this to somebody. Try him as an adult. The law about not mentioning a criminal’s name because of their age should be outlawed because if they thought of doing certain crimes to people, they deserve to have their name publicized.
