A Forest Hills bar/restaurant – known for its brunch, craft beer, and wine menu – has shuttered after an 8-year run.
Jack & Nellie’s, located at 108-25 Ascan Ave., has closed for good, according to an Instagram post the business put out earlier this week.
The post did not specify the reason for the closure although it alluded to extenuating circumstances.
“It is often the uncontrollable factors of what life hands us that determine how we move forward,” the message reads. “Sadly, our time serving you is cut short.”
The bar/restaurant opened in 2012 and was a modern, upscale establishment. Its eggs benedict and breakfast burger were its trademark dish. The bar/restaurant also served up a wide range of salads as well as cheeses for wine lovers.
The operators of Jack & Nellie’s also own another Forest Hills bar/restaurant called the Rove, which is located at 72-27 Austin St. That business remains open for delivery or curbside pick up.
The closure of Jack & Nellie’s marks the second Forest Hills establishment to close in a number of days. Forest Hills Diner, located at 68-60 Austin St., closed its doors on May 22 due to the economic fallout from the COVID-19 shutdown. Earlier this month the Irish Cottage in Forest Hills also closed.
