The Glen Oaks Shopping Center will soon be getting a Lidl grocery store after the Feil Organization signed a lease with the supermarket chain. The lease is for 15 years and covers 34,484 square feet.
“We’re excited to welcome Lidl into our premier retail tenant roster,” Feil Organization Vice President of Leasing Randall Briskin said. “As the popular supermarket continues its sustained expansion in New York City, its diverse grocery options are set to enhance the local community while also increasing foot traffic within the shopping center.”
This will mark the third Lidl location in Queens, with an Astoria location already open and an Elmhurst location scheduled to open in 2024. The grocery store will feature a bakery, fresh produce, floral, meats and seafood sections, as well as other everyday grocery essentials. As with all other Lidl locations, 80% of the store’s assortment will consist of private label products, with the majority sourced in the United States.
“We continue to hear positive feedback from our Astoria customers and cannot wait to continue our expansion with an Elmhurst location in early 2024, and soon thereafter this fantastic new location in Glen Oaks, Queens,” Lidl US Senior Director of Real Estate for Lidl’s Northern Region Or Raitses said. “With this new location, we are continuing our mission to bring fresh foods at an incredible value to the many unique and diverse neighborhoods of New York City.”
The Glen Oaks Shopping Center can be found at 255-01 Union Tpke. in Glen Oaks. It is an open-air shopping center spanning three buildings over five city blocks in the easternmost part of Queens. The 187,650 square-foot center is anchored by a Burlington Coat Factory and a Key Foods. It is centrally located along Union Turnpike, the heavily trafficked corridor linking Queens and Long Island.
