Man Carjacks Luxury Volvo in Williamsburg, Dumps Vehicle in Queens : NYPD

Police are searching for a man who carjacked a luxury Volvo in Williamsburg last week.

The suspect got into a woman’s white 2020 Volvo S60, which was parked outside 84 Withers St. on July 16 at around 5 a.m., and brandished an unidentified object, police said.

The woman, who was powering up her car, jumped out of the vehicle when she saw the man and fled.

The carjacker then sped off with the Volvo, police said.

The vehicle was recovered later that day at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center in Queens, police said.

The woman was not injured during the incident, police said.

Police released a video of the suspect taken in front of the Bay Terrace Shopping Center.

A Broad Channel man was sentenced in Brooklyn federal court Tuesday to 15 years in prison for committing a violent robbery of a Ridgewood Savings Bank branch in Glendale while on parole in April 2023.

Gerald DeRosse, 55, pleaded guilty to the charge in May and is described as a serial bank robber by federal prosecutors, who choked and threatened to kill a senior woman to get cash from a bank teller during the heist. DeRosse ran off with just $205 in cash.
